Red Light Law-Updated
We at the Flickinger Legal Group, LLC are dedicated to informing our followers of the most recent news, which is why the message below is extremely URGENT to us!
As we had informed you previously, House Bill 154 was to go into effect on March 21, 2017. This bill was in regards to the Ohio Red Light Law that affects motorcycles who are not detected by the system. The amendment would have allowed motorcycle drivers who were confronted with traffic signals that were malfunctioning, which would have included the failure of a vehicle detector to detect the vehicle, to proceed through the intersection. However, on Wednesday, February 23, 2017, the House unanimously passed House Bill 9. The Bill will still allow bicycles to pass through red lights if the signal is not activated, but not vehicles. That Bill now goes to the Senate. It appears if House Bill 9 passes, the new law would apply only to bicycles.
